In the midst of immigration reform, it is both necessary and difficult to weigh all of the numerous causes and effects of various factors on policy formulation. Differing populations, political and economic objectives, domestic and international concerns, and humanitarian and social considerations all contribute to the way that migrants are incorporated into their receiving society, as well as how they relate to their home communities. By presenting a few of the multi-disciplinary perspectives on migration from Latin America and the Caribbean, this panel seeks to address the challenges facing the current migration paradigm and their implications for modern societies.
