This dissertation constitutes an exploration into the discourse anaphoric properties of Spanish demonstrative anaphors esto, eso and aquello (cf. this/that). This basic issue, largely ignored in the studies of Spanish linguistics so far, is fully addressed here from a semantic and pragmatic perspective. El trabajo (1150 pp.) comprende dos partes: en la primera se estudian los diccionarios bilingües, plurilingües, nomenclaturas y repertorios técnicos de los siglos XVI y XVII (1520-1700) que incluyen las lenguas española y francesa.
