The British Conference on Judeo-Spanish Studies is an international scholarly forum for university teachers and researchers working in Judeo-Spanish Studies, and welcomes papers from both eminent scholars and those beginning their doctoral studies. Our emphasis is on Judeo-Spanish Language and Judeo-Spanish Literature. We invite abstracts for the coming conference which will be returning to Queen Mary University of London in London's East End (Mile End Road London E1). You may like to note that it will follow on from the Medieval Hispanic Research Colloquium, 29 June to 30 June 2006 (information from: j.l.whetnall@ qmul.ac uk).Queen Mary is a most appropriate venue for the conference as 2006 marks the three hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Resettlement of Jews in England and many of the Sephardic Jews who immigrated to England settled in this area. The programme will include a visit to the Sephardic synagogue of Bevis Marks, the oldest functioning synagogue in England.Papers, which may be read in Judeo-Spanish, Spanish, or English, should not have been presented or published elsewhere and should not exceed twenty minutes in length.
