Clinical assistant professor

The Department of Literature and Language at East Tennessee State University is seeking a qualified individual to fill a 9-month clinical assistant professor. This position is renewable annually, with responsibilities to direct our Language and Culture Resource Center (LCRC) and teach classes in Applied Spanish, Spanish linguistics, translation and/or related fields. Clinical faculty positions may be converted to tenure-track in certain situations.

The LCRC is an academic and community center that aims to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and involves the university faculty and its students in hands-on, community-based learning experiences. The Center offers interpreting and translation services as well as publishes El Nuevo Tennessean, an annual bilingual publication.

We are looking for an individual who has innovative ideas to grow the Center in ways that will engage not only Spanish language and culture, but also other modern languages and culture.

Position is 50% administrative and 50% teaching.

9-month contract with the possibility of extra compensation in the summer through teaching and/or a summer stipend depending on the needs of the department and LCRC.
