Descripción:
In «Repudiating (Her)Stories in Medieval Iberia», we seek to engage issues of gender under this proposed rubric of repudiation (May 10-13, 2018). From the role of the Virgin Mary in rejecting false converts to the fifteenth century querella de las mujeres (querrelle des femmes) to the various chronicles that imaginatively recreate or instead erase the roles of individual Iberian queens and consorts, repudiation related to gender and the consequent negotiation of authority was a continuing facet of medieval Iberian society. We welcome papers on any aspect of repudiation and gender in any era of medieval Iberian history.
