Teaching Fellow in Spanish Studies

Following the recent successful introduction of programmes in Spanish Studies and above-target undergraduate recruitment, the Department of Modern Languages and European Studies at the University of Reading is seeking to appoint a new Teaching Fellow in Spanish language, whose role will be to contribute extensively to the development and delivery of the language components of BA degree programmes in Spanish, as well as to other related activities of Spanish and Latin American Studies at Reading.

Duties will include the oversight, delivery and assessment of undergraduate-level Spanish language teaching (including Business Spanish), and related administrative duties. The post-holder will be expected to develop curriculum and teach to all undergraduate years and at all entry levels (beginners’, intermediate and post-A-level). The Teaching Fellow will also be expected to make a significant contribution, along with colleagues in Spanish and across the department, to extra-curricular, outreach and recruitment activities.

You will have:
- A post-graduate qualification in second language teaching or equivalent experience.
- Extensive relevant experience of teaching Spanish (general and business language) at all undergraduate levels.
- Experience of developing teaching and assessment materials for Spanish language teaching
- Familiarity with the principles of TEL (Technology Enhancement Learning) and their applications to language teaching.
- The ability and willingness to undertake and to carry out administrative duties associated with teaching and assessment in a timely and effective manner.
- An interest in language curriculum development and in different language-teaching methodologies.
- An interest in contributing fully to raising the profile of Spanish at the University of Reading and more widely.
