Assistant Professor of Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies

Rice University’s Department of Spanish, Portuguese, and Latin American Studies welcomes applications for a specialist in Mexican literature and culture, with a focus on the 20th/21st centuries, at the rank of assistant professor. Interest in a secondary field or comparative research is desirable, in combination with one of the following: Central America, Andes region, indigenous literatures and cultures, U.S. Latina/o literatures, urban and immigration studies, environmental studies, or visual studies.

Evidence of outstanding scholarly accomplishment and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching are essential. Native or near-native command of Spanish. The position responsibilities consist of research, teaching, and service and include a normal course load of 2/2. Application is electronic only, via the Rice University RICEWorks website.
